New Member Feature
Koushik Peri, a first-year UBC Engineering student on the electrical sub-team, is presently working with a team of other members on the design for a solenoid winder for our new flat solenoids. Being a first-year engineering student, he has only basic understanding of circuits and motors, so the members working on the project are currently in the research phase. This involves lots of self-learning and mentorship from the knowledgeable senior electrical team members including our experienced electrical team lead, Matt Lai.
He hopes to prepare himself for 2nd year in, most likely, electrical or computer engineering by getting exposed to concepts so he doesn't, "walk in blind," into ECE. We look forward to seeing the final solenoid winder design, Koushik and fellow members!
Field Set-up and Interested High School Students
Saturday October 22nd, we had a group of students with Engineering Exploration and GEERing Up! take a tour of the EDC and learn about our team and robots. We hope our presentation and demo of xbox-controlled bots spurred the students' interest in UBC Engineering and robotics!
We are still making arrangements for proper lighting above our field, so we can get Vision up and running.
